Carolyn Corkindale

Filmmaker: Dream, Create, Complete

Hi, I'm Carolyn Corkindale. It's great to see you!

I abandoned my teaching and research career to study at a very practical Adelaide film school. I embarked on making low budget documentaries and original short dramas with local cast and crew, many of whom have become recognised as emerging filmmakers.

My films have screened internationally and here in Australia at both festivals and theatrically.

Most of all I love working with a group of young people on a shared challenge of visual storytelling.

Carolyn Corkindale is a filmmaker based in Adelaide, South Australia.

The Fork in the Road 2022 14.13

The film mostly follows a boy who is escaping within himself. He is caught up in fantasies in the woodland that reflect the trials he faces in the real world. As these occur, there are glimpses of his parallel life in the real world, experiences of the boy who chose not to follow the path less travelled, but to return home to an uncomfortable situation. It is a coming of age fairy story that has some gripping episodes, where an audience will feel pity and fear for the survival of the twin protagonists and ultimately delight as all is resolved.

Wishing You Well  - Director’s Cut ( Carolyn Corkindale: producer/writer/director) 2017

A young orphaned boy is placed in the care of his elderly Grandfather who lives on a rural property. He is shown an old well    and makes a poignant wish, contained in a bottle, which he drops into the water.

To his surprise, he receives a reassuring answer – a drawing with a message. The bottle dialogue continues and the boy is much cheered and reconciled to being with his grandfather.

Years pass and a young adult, dressed in black arrives at the locked gate of the now disheveled property. He discovers the well and a bottle containing a message pops up to the surface. The contents delight him and he replies.
